Friday 1st June 07 - National Volunteers Week Launch At Hull City Hall

Hull City Hall on Friday 1st June is the stage to launch the start of National Volunteers Week in Hull showcasing the work of up to 70 volunteer-involving organisations where the public are being invited to come and find out about hundreds of volunteering opportunities available across our city. The event will also see West Hull MP Alan Johnson launch Volunteering Hull - a strategy for the future of volunteering which has been developed following a six moths consultation with volunteer involving organisations across ]the city as well as with individual volunteers.

Says Tom Grealy, Volunteer Centre Manager who chaired the strategy working group 'Volunteers are active in all areas of life in Hull and this is Hull's first citywide volunteering strategy focusing on crucial areas for the future success of volunteering in our city. Hull is also the first English city to develop a citywide volunteering strategy '.
