Coming Up, Seminars
Last Updated: 14/03/2007 13:02:04
Monday 17th - Wednesday 19th April 07 - Helping Artists To Plan For Their Future

A series of free seminars are being offered in Yorkshire during April 2007, aimed at helping artists and creative practitioners to understand and plan for their future pension provision. 44% of the UK's working population does not have a pension, but among artists and other creative practitioners the figure rises to a worrying 70 per cent.

To help address this, and recognising the vital contribution that artists make to our social, cultural and economic landscape, Arts Council England has supported EUCLID, a cultural information agency, to provide more than 50 free seminars across the country.
The seminars will examine the likely retirement needs of artists and creative practitioners, and their various pension provision options.
Although Government changes to the pension system are underway, existing arrangements still make saving for a pension one of the most tax efficient opportunities for anyone in work - and for some who are not. People attending the seminars will be given simple, useful information to help them understand their pension opportunities - and the consequences of not having a pension

The EUCLID seminars are supported as part of the Arts Council's Artists' Insights programme, which aims to unlock the professional potential of artists through a range of targeted initiatives.
In Yorkshire, the pensions seminars will be held in Hull on 17th April, in Sheffield on 18th April and in Dewsbury on 19th April. For information about venues and times and to book a place, visit www.euclid.info.

For more information please contact Diane Horton at Arts Council England, Yorkshire on 01924 486241 / diane.horton@artscouncil.org.uk or Rachel Kirkwood at EUCLID on 0161 245 3235 / rachel@euclid.info.
