Saturday 23rd September 06 - All Roads Lead to Manchester - Stop The War

The next national Stop The War demo has been called outside the Labour Party Conference in Manchester on Saturday September 23rd 2006. A march and rally will take place on the city along with a mass die-in outside the conference building
Iraq - A Complete Nightmare
This is a real chance to put even more pressure on Blair and his warmongers.
Iraq is a complete nightmare as its population pays the price for Bush and Blair's illegal invasion. All the bloody disasters predicted by the anti war movement have come true. Blair carries on regardless as his government sinks deeper into the mire.

The imperial adventure in Afghanistan is also unraveling fast. John Reid when he was defence secretary said the mission could well end without a shot being fired. As this is written six British soldiers have been killed already.
Repeating The Filthy Tory Legacy
The pressure is also building for an assault on Iran, involving air strikes that will slaughter thousands more innocents. All the talk about nuclear proliferation when the hypocrites Blair and Brown talk of another generation of nuclear power, nuclear weapons and a replacement for Trident, stinks.

They are repeating the filthy Tory legacy again at enormous cost whilst hospitals are cutting staff.
Get The Troops Out NOW!
Our message is simple one: get the troops out now. The longer they stay in these countries the worse it will become. Labour says they must stay the course to avoid a bloodbath, but this is precisely what is happening now.

Why march yet again? Surely this did not work in 2003? Well one march cannot change the world and the battle we face is much longer than one protest.
We can and must keep up the pressure as the majority of people are sickened by this war. Join us in Manchester on September 23rd.

Troops Out Now! Hands Of Iran! No Trident Replacement!

Current Affairs - 18th March 2006 Stop The War protest in London - 16 page Photo gallery by Mo
The protest organized by Stop The War Coalition and the Muslim Association of Britain attracted over 100,000 people and I was one of them. Current Affairs - In Reply to Charles Clarke Email- Your views on fighting terrorism By Sean Atkinson
Dear Mr Clarke, I am terribly upset with laws you are trying and thankfully failing, to enshrine. If you give in and remove our hard won freedoms then those who oppose democracy will have won. In an ironic twist where you try to bring order and peace, you will bring strangulation and insurgence. Where you try to bring safety and security you will bring needless imprisonment and suffering. The actions to Read more...

Current Affairs - ID Cards - A Goldrush For Some
By Martin Fuller
David Blunkett's latest resignation has highlighted an aspect of government plans to introduce ID cards and create a data base to back them up. They will be worth a fortune to those who invest in the companies who win the contracts to have us all bar coded, logged and registered. Blunkett invested and took a directorship in a company that specialises in DNA Read more...

Going Down - Make Poverty History Demonstration in Edinburgh 2nd July 2005 By Mo
Martin Deane invited me along with 2 full coach loads of people from Hull to the Make Poverty History Demonstration in Edinburgh on the 2nd July 2005. It was an early start, 6am, because we had a long 6 hour trip up to Scotland (and another 6 hours back which I tried to forget) as we hopped aboard that drizzly morning. I'd packed my sandwiches, water etc and had a flask of hot coffee prepared for me by Cilla Read more...

Current Affairs - In Reply to Charles Clarke Email- Your views on fighting terrorism By Paul Whitlow and B E Robinson
Dear Mr. Clarke. Of course I think our laws should be updated when necessary, with due regard for civil liberties, after full debate in the House. If people cannot be brought to trial because laws have not kept pace with modern technology, for example, the law must be updated. However, the creation of new offences should be undertaken with great care. Religious tolerance allows for criticism and has an Read more...

Current Affairs - In Reply to Charles Clarke Email- Your views on fighting terrorism By Martin Deane
I am emailing you today to find out your views on the action the Government is proposing to take to challenge the new terrorist threats that face all of us. Since the London bombings of 7 July, we all know that the UK faces a terrorist threat of a different level of seriousness and complexity from anything Britain has faced before. We are confronting extremists whose aims are to kill and Read more...

Current Affairs - Reply to Lee Cassanell's Election Wars 2: Enter The Candidates By Lydia Rivlin
I happened upon your page devoted to the last election only yesterday and even though the time is past, felt moved to protest that possibly Lee Cassanell was being a tad of a particle of a sliver of a shadow of a teensy weensy bit unfair to me. Most importantly, I am not a pensioner. That's really too awful. Calculating a woman's age upwards is an ungentlemanly act, uncharacteristic of Read more...

Current Affairs - No To Identity Cards! By Martin Fuller

Hedon, Monday night, to a 100-packed community hall, Dr Paul Connett gave a brilliant talk on the dangers of incinerators and incineration. Current Affairs - The Election 2005 - Another One Crossed Off The List by Rich Mills with 7 page photo gallery by Mo
The Election 2005 was a colourful and amazing spectacle, especially closer than most to the action. Not for me the putting of an X against the name of some stranger, who is then supposed to represent your interest in Parliament. No I was much more involved in our democratic process. Acting as a Polling Agent for Martin Deane of the Green Party, I spent the day at the very Read more...

Current Affairs - Colin Powell - Saint or War Criminal?
By Martin Deane
After the near beatification of Ronald Reagan recently, it falls to the peace movement to do the honours once again on the occasion of Colin Powell's recent resignation. Colin Powell was the official moderate, and national security adviser, under Reagan. Let's take Africa. During the Reagan years, there was a policy called Read more...

Current Affairs - Burning Issues - Was 9/11 the greatest show on earth? By Martin Deane.
The War on Terror is based on the premise that the 2001 9/11 attacks on New York and Washingotn, which killed nearly 3,000 people were carried out by 19 Islamic fundamentalist men. The official story has been played in such detail throughout our media that we will all know it. But the facts could be - and probably Read more...

Current Affairs - Does intelligence help us?
By Robin Ramsay.
Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit-9/11 is great propaganda but, like all propaganda, it isn't about the truth. In a section mocking the so-called "Coalition of the willing" which supported the US invasion of Iraq, Moore listed several very small countries - but omitted Australia, the UK and others. For Australia Read more...

Current Affairs - International Contradictions and Hypocrisies By Andrew Martin
