Last Updated: 12/08/2006 16:37:15
Sept to Dec - Seeds and Bridges 2006 in Hull (various venues)

seeds and bridges 2006 is a series of four very special events designed to showcase the best, accessible yet highly influential music by some of the most creative artists around.

The seeds and bridges concert series has been hand made to bring highly influential artists to Hull and also give local musicians a chance to express themselves in different ways. Key aims of the concerts are to expand the range of contemporary creative music presented in the City and to provide environments that allow artists to fully express themselves.
Friday 15th September - Pamelia Kurstin and Fonda 500 at Horncastle Building (Hull College Centre for the Performing Arts)

Pamelia is quite simply the best Theremin player in the world. She has performed alongside tons of influential artists such as David Byrne, Air, Seb Tellier, Polar Bear, Cibo Matto, Barbez, John Zorn, Seb Rochford, Liam Noble etc. etc. www.myspace.com/pameliakurstin
Fonda 500 will play a unique set just for this event. They are keeping the details to themselves but they have asked for 5 vocal mics and one d.i. box!
www.myspace.com/thebandcalledfonda500

From 7pm - first set at 7.30pm
£5 / £3 concessions
Sunday 8th October - McWatt and The Rocky Nest at The Lamp, off Beverley Road

McWatt play things to squeeze, bow and blow into. They are key players in the burgeoning new northern music scene and have recently supported A Silver Mt Zion too. www.myspace.com/mcwattband
The Rocky Nest will do their ramshackle thing in a different way especially for this event. www.myspace.com/therockynest

From 7.30pm - first set at 8.00pm
£4 / £3 concessions
Friday 24th November - Sylvain Chaveau and Felicia Atkinson and The Cuckoos at the Horncastle Building

Sylvain has long been one of France's most influential and important contemporary musicians. He has worked with many, many leading artists from around the world as well as recording soundtracks and working with dance and the spoken word.

Most recently he has supported Sigus Ros (who are also huge fans of his music). He is one of the most live popular performers in France with his shows combining subtle grand piano with restrained electronics, glockenspiel and guitar work.

For this unique concert (his first in the UK) he will perform with Felicia Atkinson, an emerging visual artist who will provide visuals and some spoken word pieces. www.myspace.com/atkinsonchauveau

The Cuckoos are James Waudby (Salako, Mr Beasley, Marble Valley, Ten Toes) and Man (Fila Brazillia) - formed especially for this event, these two leading local chaps will perform new songs and basically have a good time.

From 7.00pm - first set at 7.30pm
£5 / £3 concessions
December 14th - Lee Patterson and Jez Riley at Red Gallery, Osbourne Street, Hull

Lee is one of the UK's most respected sound artists known for making music from the minute sounds of everyday objects. For this improvised performance he will use seeds collected locally.

Jez who is known across the world for his work using field recordings will use the sounds of local bridges. www.myspace.com/imemusic
This concert will be the most experimental of the series by far, so it will be free - we are hoping folks who have enjoyed the first 3 events will take a further risk and come along to tell us what they think about this first series.

From 7pm - first set at 7.30pm

Tickets for this event are available from venues, Beasleys (+ booking fee) and via paypal - see www.myspace.com/seedsandbridges for all the details and special offers.
