Wanted! Murderers, Rogues And Psychopaths For Writing Workshop 5th August 06

Don't worry! These alarming characters are purely fictional and are central to an innovative workshop being organised by two Leicestershire writers. Sue Kendrick and Lois Croften, both from North West Leicestershire, are staging a Noveletteathon workshop as part of the Ashby de la Zouch Arts Festival and are looking for up to 20 writers to join them in an ambitious attempt to write a 50,000 word novelette in just one day!

Said Sue, We keep being told that it can't be done, but we aim to prove them wrong! The workshop is a collaborative venture with everyone being allocated chapters. To make things a little easier we have sketched out an outline of the plot and characters, but it is very much the bare bones. Writers will need to flesh out the characters, create atmosphere and build in a few surprises. It will be an intensive day, but a lot of fun as well.
The workshop takes place in the idyllic setting of the Sir John Moore school, Tele-cottage, Appleby Magna on Saturday, 5th August from 9.30 am - 4.30 pm.

The tele-cottage is a wonderful venue for a workshop, said Lois. It is a very scenic and historic location with first rate facilities. Computers and laptops are available to all the workshop participants, most of which have full internet access, ideal for researching back ground material. There is a fully equipped kitchen plus facilities for the disabled so there are no barriers preventing anyone taking part.
Sue and Lois are keen to stress that the Novelettathon workshop is for everyone, not just writers who already have some experience. If you can write reasonable English, said Sue, then there is no reason why you can't take part in the Novelettathon. Both Lois and I have had a lot of experience writing fiction, winning open writing competitions and having work published both on radio and in print. We will be on hand to help during the day and if chapters need polishing up afterwards, then we will work with the authors to get them right.

The Novelettathon takes place on Saturday, 5th August. Cost is £20 including lunch. For details telephone Sue Kendrick on 01530 223467 or Lois Crofton on 01530 222038.
Address - Sue Kendrick, 7 Melbourne Road, Newbold, Coleorton, Leicestershire. LE67 8JH. Email - sue@writelink.co.uk
