26th April 2006 - Acoustic Wednesday 3 at The Tiger's Lair, Anlaby Road

April 26th sees the third Acoustic Wednesday gig and with a move to a new venue and an absolutely brilliant line up planned, it looks like being the best yet... Three members of top local indie rock band The Landaus will be providing an acoustic version of their high energy material, Andy Cornfoot a Hull Daily Mail Talent Trail winner, Steve Reed one of the best local singer/songwriters and Steve Ellis, a Tiger's Lair favourite debuting his original songs have all confirmed their appearances and if everyone else approached is available to appear the night will be chock full of some of the best of Hull's songwriters and performers.

Acoustic Wednesday was originally set up by promoter Darren Bunting and it has proven such a success that Music HQ (of whom Darren is a director) is taking on the organisation and promotion of the night to enable it to expand and prosper further. Music HQ is a social enterprise company set up to provide training, advice, promotion and resources for Hull musicians and with the aid of an Acorn Grant from the Hull City Council it is now well on the way to providing this.

Acoustic Wednesday gigs are a way for Music HQ to practically help musicians by providing a well organised and professionally presented gig with money raised from the entrance fee being divided equally amongst the performers, to guarantee a fair share all round. Originally staged at the Adelphi Club on De Grey Street (A big thank you to everyone there) the night has moved venues because advance bookings at the club clashed with the preferred Wednesday nights. Music HQ were extremely lucky to be offered The Tiger's Lair on Anlaby Road (near the town centre) as an alternative venue which is also run as a Social Enterprise with a very similar ethos to Music HQ.

Music HQ are now looking for demo CDs and tapes from performers and songwriters for future Acoustic Wednesday gigs, as well as their first compilation CD release and other live events.
