Coming Up
Last Updated: 28/09/2006 10:55:04
Saturday 30th September 06 - Ad-Venture Group Meeting
At St. James Enterprise Centre, St. James Street, Hull HU3 2DH from 1-5pm

In November last year at the Making: Music, Art, Money conference organised by the Ad-Venture network, musicians and other makers were provided with an opportunity to find out more about:-
  • Meta (Generator, Newcastle )
  • Yorkshire Touring Network (Host, Leeds ),
  • Work with schools (volcom)
  • How to find your bottom line - using spreadsheets to market yourself effectively (volcom)
Since then, Ad-Venture has worked with network members to develop new opportunities throughout the creative industries. In terms of the music industry Ad-Venture has:-

Promoted Hull 's music scene in the NME and beyond
Piloted a mainstream TV music programme from Hull
Launched Bestfrontseat's Internet TV service at Give It Some Welly
Provided new employment opportunities for artists
Marketed The Welly outside the city as a venue for live music/TV
Developed new collaborations and joint ventures between members

Everyone's help and collaboration is appreciated!
Ad-Venture now has an opportunity to bid for funding for Hull - the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI). There are no guarantees that Hull will succeed in getting this money, or that the ideas put in will see the light of day - just as no promises could be made in advance about delivering all of the above!

Ad-Venture would like to use some of this money to develop Hull's music infrastructure - publishing, recording, distribution and marketing - for the benefit of everyone.
Frank Wilkes (Host, Red Tape) spoke at the last Ad-Venture conference about how none of the record company profits from Def Leppard's album sales were re-invested in new bands in Sheffield. There is a model for this kind of reinvestment - in Merseyside, profits from The Coral were re-invested in The Zutons and other new bands.

The meeting on Saturday is a chance to get people together again to throw ideas into the pot, so they can hopefully become part of Hull's LEGI (if the bid is successful).

If you haven't got any ideas right now, come and hear everyone else's, and catch up on what's happening next with Ad-Venture.
