Wednesday 15th February - Acoustic Wednesday at The Adelphi 8.00pm
|
Question - Where in the world can you see three top class acoustic
singer/songwriters on a Wednesday night? Answer - Hull of course!
and more precisely The Adelphi Club from 8pm on the 15th February
at the first Acoustic Wednesday gig.
The three artists are Steve Larkman, Steve Reed and Steve Fulsome and apart
from their first names they have a lot in common - they all perform finely
crafted songs on acoustic guitar and vocals, all come from Hull and are all
nice guys (something not always found in the music industry).
|
|
|
Even though all three artists perform in a similar way their material is
very different which will make for a great evening's entertainment with
the variety of songs and styles guaranteeing an enjoyable few hours music.
|
Steve Larkman is top of the bill, even though anyone of the three Steves could
fill the top spot with ease, and is a Hull musician with a wealth of experience
live and in the studio and just about to release a new album worldwide.
The album, Word Games, features material taken from the TKO Records back
catalogue and written by some of the most famous and successful songwriters
in the world and chosen by their CEO Jeffrey Kruger MBE.
On Acoustic Wednesday Steve will be performing a set of his own equally as
impressive material drawn from his previous studio albums and reworked for
acoustic performance.
|
|
|
Steve's songs are full of memorable hooks, clever
lyrical phrases and no-nonsense arrangements that get to the real meat of
the song and lay it out for all to see rather than covering up any lack of
melodic quality and shows his experience as a song writer and producer. |
Second billing goes to Steve Reed who even though the youngest member of the
evening's performers has already won notably critical acclaim for his material
far and wide and has a sizeable following of people 'in the know' which is not
surprising when you hear him performing his songs.
Steve Reed's songs have a depth to them which is rarely found and means after
the initial impact of first hearing going back to listen again and again is
a joy rather than a chore.
With regular trips to London and other famous venues like The Cavern Club
in Liverpool to perform and audition, it is only a matter of time before
Steve Reed will be making the next step up the ladder to international
stardom and success.
|
|
Opening up the show and the third Steve is Steve Fulsome who brings a slightly
bluesy yet energetic touch to his material and like Steve Larkman is a highly
confident performer on stage, either solo and acoustically, as he will be at
The Adelphi or with The Steve Fulsome Band.
Powerful guitar playing alongside strong vocals and catchy songs means that
right from the evening's start this will be quality musical entertainment of
the highest order.
Entrance is £3 or £2 with a flyer available to print out from
www.stevelarkman.com .

Music Reviews - Wednesday 1st February 06 - Heat 1, Best Original Band at The Springhead By Anita Blakeston
|
|
Heat 1, glad the first one's over. My nerves were ready for a rest.
What a great night. Sartorial elegance prize has to go to Nic Hales from local band
Soulflame for his delightful ethnic top, fantastic hairdo (said one fan) and his
underpants which Mr Blako described in graphic detail to the whole audience.
We love the sarcasm, keep it coming!
The evening started with a well and truly kick ass set from Immingham lads, Just:.

Music Reviews - Thursday 19th January 06 - Stripped at The Wellington Inn By David Smith

|
Thursday 19th January 2006 meant only one thing - the return for the highly
popular acoustic night, Stripped.
The event takes place at The Wellington Inn, just outside of the city centre,
and always attracts the attention of local music lovers.
As a relative newcomer to the area, a bit of research did no harm, and from
what popped up in the archives, the line-up did not seem to be
