Friday 8th December 06 Hull STAR (Student Action for Refugees) Annual Fundraiser Featuring Gul Naz and AfterGlow New Adelphi Club Hull

STAR will be holding its annual fundraising gig at the New Adelphi, Hull, De Grey Street on Friday 8th December. The doors open at 8pm and entrance is just £3 (free for refugees and asylum seekers) There is a great line-up including Gulnaz (Kurdish Band) and local indie rock n roll high flyers AfterGlow as well as free Kurdish food and a raffle with some great prizes. Last year we raised £300 and we are looking to beat that this year!

All money raised from the event will be donated directly towards the local refugee and asylum seeker community. There is currently a great problem concerning destitution among asylum seekers and refugees in Hull (there have been reports that local organisations are distributing 80 food parcels per week!) and the money raised will go straight towards trying to alleviate some of those problems (i.e. by buying more food parcels, etc). www.refugeecouncil.org www.myspace.com/afterglowtheband
