Band Gig Dates
Last Updated: 04/10/2005 14:15:16
Thursdays - Stripped at The Wellington Inn

The finest acoustic tunes from the North's best bands and solo artists every first and third Thursday of the month.

Fresh from its first successful year at Baby Jupiter in Leeds, Stripped launches onto the Hull music scene at The Wellington Inn.

This unique acoustic night showcases the North's finest talent, playing host to quality, original artists of varying styles in one of Hull's most individual bars. Each night features three to four bands, with each band playing two sets, with four or five songs in each.
Stripped hopes to give a forum to those artists with real talent, often ignored by mainstream, established venues. Strong ties with the well-established night in Leeds will also bring over many artists who would not otherwise be heard by Hull audiences.

The Wellington Inn is proud to be the home of Hull Stripped, and offers hundreds of beers and ales from across the globe. Variety is the essence of the venue and a quintessential part of the Stripped concept.

Thursday 6th October - 8pm
Tonight sees the sensational Steer promoting their latest album, Loved and Lost. Mixing the influences of Jeff Buckley and Radiohead, this Leeds based outfit are not to be missed.

Also on tonight's bill and making the journey from Leeds are Fat Charlie, driving indie rock with ex-Portobello frontman Tim Canfer, and HarriWatts Band playing their folk-influenced tunes.

Thursday 20th October - 8pm.
Tonight's talented line-up consists of critically acclaimed Hull bands The Applewhites, The Bonnitts and Cardinals, rocking The Wellington Inn with a blitz of talent, attitude and damn fine music.

Also making their debut performance this evening are the Pixie-esque Stickpin.

Music Reviews - The Leeds Festival Diary - 25th to 28th August 05 By Andy Knudsen Photos by Em Alexander, Steve Clappison at (www.tallorders.org) and Sam Saunders
In the same inexplicable way that you sometimes wake up a second or two before the alarm goes off, I wake up just before the door to the room I'm sleeping in opens. Dave bends his blonde head round the door. "Helloo" he sings and advances into the room wearing a face like the Cheshire Cat. I muster some kind of greeting and check my watch for the time.
