|
Thursday 8th December - Brian Nelson And His Guitars at the Wellington Inn, Russell Street 9pm.
|
Brian Nelson plays a solo set ranging across a wide selection of styles and genres.
Acoustic and electric. Rock, blues, roots and classics. No frills, no gimmicks, no
backing - just guitar and voice interpreting some of the best songwriters of the
last 50 years.
Costello's I Want You sits beside Strawberry Fields Forever, and Richard Thompson's
Dimming of the Day. Little Feat and Ry Cooder jostle with Neil Young, Dylan and
Bragg for space in his play list.
Following a lengthy break, after years playing in local bands (Revox, Diggory Venn,
Jump the Gun), Brian Nelson has recently returned to live performances.
|
|
He is now going his own way giving renditions of his favourite music, and he
is a regular performer at Hull's 'other' Welly - The Wellington Inn, Russell
Street (behind The Lamp) provides an intimate venue and offers excellent
real ale and imported continental beers to enjoy with the music.
As the 8th December is also the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death, Brian has decided to play mainly Lennon songs (1964 - 1970) to make this gig a tribute to him.
|
Admission is free.

Drum n bass creeps up from your feet to your fingaz and puts a smile on everyone's face...
I am aware of the genre drum n bass or d n b as it is commonly referred.
A good few years ago I stayed by my radio all night to tape the Bristol pioneer Roni Size playing live on air.
I watched with interest a docu-road movie on LTJ Bukem and the antics of MC Conrad.
The show ended up with the
