Doing It For The Kids - Sunday 31st July 05 - Staks Bar
|
Local bands are getting together to help a local Under 11's football team,
The Beverley Beavers to raise money for a new strip for next season.
The team has worn the same kit for three years without a sponsor and unfortunately
they've all outgrown it and are desperate need of a new one.
|
|
|
DJ Mak (aka Mark Page) of The Sesh and Grapevine fame is coach for the team.
He has FA qualifications and has been involved in youth football for a number of years.
He says of the boys; They're an absolute joy.
Their potential is phenomenal and as long as they stay committed and enjoy it,
that's all I ever ask of them.
|
|
The club's had five boys at trials with
Hull City over the last year or so, and I've got two this season who are set
for trials at Leeds Utd.
Remember the name Aidan Anderson - he's gonna be the next Beckham!
Saying that though, they're all stars!
|
Organised by Paul Baggot from Turismo, the benefit gig,
Doing It For The Kids!
is to take place at Staks Bar on Beverley Rd from 3pm on the 31st July and finish up
at The Linnet & Lark on Princes Ave later in the day.
Entry is £3 (at Staks) and bands confirmed to play are Turismo, Applewhites,
Dirty Dreamers and The Favours plus many more.
|
|
|
Mark is astounded by the bands'generosity; Paul Baggot(Turismo) and
Baz (Dirty Dreamers) approached me as they knew I was looking for a sponsor for my boys
football club.
|
|
They mentioned it to a few others and the whole thing has snowballed.
I can't thank them enough!
Since the event was planned many more bands have come forward to play,
and the offer is open to them all to bring down their guitars and voices
and just muck in at both venues.
On the night at The Linnet & Lark Mark will be giving away the new Sesh 2 CD
for a small donation towards the boys new kit.
Mark is also hoping for some support from local businesses;
We're in need of about £500 and if any local companies, shops, take-aways,
night clubs, venues etc want to make a small donation, it would really be appreciated.
