HTBA special event for April at Hull Time Based Arts, 42 High St. Hull Artist Talk: Made in Ghana by Mawuli Afatsiawo Wednesday 20th April, 6-8pm All Welcome - FREE Hull Time Based Arts are pleased to present a talk by artist Mawuli Afatsiawo about his current project Made in Ghana. Until April Mawuli Afatsiawo will be based at Cornerhouse, Manchester which has commissioned him to produce new work based on the economy and trade of Ghana.

Made in Ghana is a label found on imported goods, and could be seen as a sign of economic success for the African country. This is a unique residency project whereby the artist will be on-hand to visitors in an office, where he will work to bridge cultural understanding of UK-Ghanaian market partnerships. Through the structure of a business organisation, I want to create an opportunity for exchange...a parallel of what happens when people trade between each other.

Looking at export structures, Mawuli will work with young people and the British Council in Accra, Ghana and with Cornerhouse to create a product, business graphics, presentations and business plans. He will make pitches across the UK to introduce the business and the collaboration with the young people. An online forum (www.cornerhouse.org ) will allow the people in Ghana to contribute to discussions about their aspirations to become successful in business. Mawuli will document the whole process on video.

Mawuli Afatsiawo is a video artist, illustrator and new media artist born in Accra, Ghana. He trained at the College of Art, Kwame Nkrumah University, Kumasi.
