17th - 19th March - Hull Time Based Arts - Creative Course Light Sculpture and Installation with Simon Richardson Venue: The University of Hull - Workshop 17th - 19th March, 4-7pm each day £50*

This three-day day course will enable the user to create interactive light displays using model magic lanterns in 1/15th scale. These were originally designed and invented at the University of Hull. Up to sixty lanterns will be arranged, animated and individually controlled to create kinetic displays. Utilising electronic illusionary stage techniques that are duplicated in miniature; like a modern version of the once popular toy theatre, the workshop participant can experiment with gels and paint to light their performance, site-specific works and installations.

The course will culminate in an installed display (in the University of Hull). The course is suitable for artists who work in installation, stage design, music visuals etc, or those who wish to learn the secrets of planning large-scale stage lighting for performance spaces. Simon Richardson runs the workshop at Hull University, and creates everything from kinetic automatons to stage sets.
