Coming Up, Exhibitions

Alistair McClymont Residency at Hull Art Lab, 25th July - 21st August

Alistair McClymont makes sculpture (amongst other things) drawn from direct experience and the seemingly ordinary. However, such experience is made extraordinary. For example, in After the Rain a mass of heated tarmac was irrigated with water to produce that urban after-the-rain smell.

These are (in the words of the artist) the actions of someone who is constantly excited and bewildered at the world before him, trying to explain it in his own way.
What he will do for this residency is not yet known but the progress of the work will become visible, whether a work gets completed or not or if the process itself becomes the work. Such uncertainty brings both life and immediacy...it makes you wonder.
An Artist's Seminar will be held on Thursday 28th July.

Hull Art Lab is at 53 Humber Street, Hull. Open Saturdays/Sundays 12-4pm 30/31st July and 6/7th, 13/14th, 20/21st August. Closing Event Friday 19th August.

Admission is free.
