On the Trail of Ghosts in Withernsea
By Blair Ashworth

When staff at thisisUll.com heard that psychic medium Graham Lee (with his team of experienced ghost-hunters) is planning a paranormal investigation in the area, they decided to send representatives along for the night.

Intrepid volunteers Mo and Blair Ashworth, will join Graham at the Hull-based Spiritual Renaissance team's inaugural event in Holmpton, near Withernsea. Armed with digital video and stills cameras, voice recorders and temperature gauges, Mo and Blair are hoping to capture evidence of strange goings-on at a fifty-year old RAF bunker buried deep underground.
Look out for the report which will be posted soon after the event (which takes place on the night of Monday 23rd May).
The massive bunker, built beneath the radar defence station that it once served, was kept so secret that not even the local residents knew of its existence.

In 1985 it was re-fitted and became regional RAF Headquarters, remaining so until 1991 when the end of the Cold War signalled a change in military emphasis.
It was virtually abandoned until 2003 when it then became home to the massive British military archives, and today it is an active resource for researchers and students.

At ground level, the only visible building that remains is the guardhouse - a brick bungalow that is the permanent home of a caretaker. The bunker itself is open for public guided tours (with certain restrictions) during the summer months.
There are one or two reports of UFO's being sighted at Holmpton, but our aim is to focus on possible paranormal activity in the bunker. Graham Lee is keen that the exercise covers new ground, rather than re-tracing the steps of previous investigations.

By all reports, Holmpton has always had a pleasant atmosphere, not troubled by malevolent spirits, but this intriguing location with such a long history must surely harbour a great deal of emotional energy.
We must wait until Monday night to find out for ourselves, and hope that we can see the all-night vigil through to an enlightening conclusion!
