Sunday 31st July -Hull Mela at Pearson Park 12 - 6pm
|
Hull Mela takes place on Sunday July the 31st from 12 noon to 6pm in
Pearson Park. A Mela is a traditional festival that originates from
India.
The Hull Mela will bring many different cultures together from
all over the world to celebrate their diversity.
The festival will play
host to a large stage where visitors will be able to enjoy live music
and traditional dancing.

Acts confirmed to play are Bollywood Dancers, Indian Singers, Flame
(Internationally renowned Iranian band), Pearson Primary School Children,
Dholl Playaz (Indian Drummers and Dancers), Belly Dancers, The Fiftynine Violets,
Hako (Young Kurdish Rap Artist) and Gul Naz (Internationally renowned Kurdish band)

Running alongside the Main Stage will be many workshops, activities, attractions and stalls for visitors to get involved in. These include Belly Dancing, Henna Hands, Djing, African Drumming, Scrapstore, Didgeridoo, Juice Bar, Bouncy Castles, Face Painting, Puppet Shows, Story Telling, World Food, Clothes stalls and Traditional Items and Gifts.
The Hull Mela is hoping to attract up to 3000 visitors on the day.

The Mela is being supported by agencies including Sure Start Newland &
Avenues, Sure Start Myton & St Andrews, Hull DOC, Hull Parks and
Gardens, Hull Children's Fund and the Hull Community Investment Fund.
Acts and activities are subject to change.

Put your money away, this is the heaviest night there's likely to be in Hull for
the rest of the year. Gutworm, fresh from supporting anarcho-punks Amen,
are taking to the road on their volition, testing their mettle against local
heavyweights Dumpvalve and Trench, the latter having only just returned to
Blighty from Europe.
