Event of the Year in Hull's Volunteering Calendar.
With just one week to go to the start of National Volunteers Week, just over 70 groups and organisations are participating in Volunteering Hull 2005 at Queens Gardens between 12noon and 6.00pm on Wednesday 1st June 2005.
Showcasing their work to the public with the aim of inspiring others to take on the challenge of
volunteering, the event will be a great way of viewing the diversity of volunteering
opportunities that exist across our city.
Backed up by entertainment including a group of bands from The Warren as well as a Penalty Shoot Out organised by Dads Against Drugs, street performers and face painters this will be a fun yet informative way to find out how you too can make a difference in our city, and it's FREE..
Volunteer Centre manager Tom Grealy commented 'volunteering is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills and get to know your community and with over 300 volunteering opportunities in Hull, there has never been a better time to get involved in volunteering'.

Elvis Costello is one of the biggest talents to come out of London's mid-1970s Pub Rock scene. Coming Up - Fund Raising Bike Ride From Southport To Hornsea - 30th May 05 By Andrew Steele
Along with 2 friends, I am taking part in a fund-raising bikeride on 30th May.
We will be cycling from Southport to Hornsea, just over 215 miles, and plan
to complete this in 4 days.
Not exactly climbing Everest, but still no mean feat for a wheezing weakling like me!
The purpose of the bike ride is to raise money for the charity KIDS in Hull,
which helps children with learning difficulties in a variety of ways.
