|
Friday 30th April saw Asylum's monthly rock night, Full Metal Jacket, ending its most successful year in style.
As well as the usual musical mayhem that can be found on the night, as a special treat the organisers laid on three bands.
First up were Brassik Lynt. Due to the early stage time Asylum was still

I must admit I've been looking forward to this gig for ages.
The chance to see 3 up and coming metal bands in one night was gonna provide some serious relief from exam stress and if it didn't the alcohol is cheap enough to fill any void.
However, anyone would went would know that this was a night to remember.
First up were

Winnebago Deal, Killer of Saints and Brassik Lynt At Full Metal Jacket, The Asylum, Hull Student Union - 30th April 04 By Chris Jarratt

The night started off with considerable excitement, everyone at college had been buzzing for weeks, and the promo posters had been up at uni and college and handed out in town to mini-moshers et al.
The line up included two local bands; Killer of Saints and Brassik Lynt, and a signed band I'd not heard of before.
During the sound checks we

Music Reviews-Under the Influence at the Adelphi - 24th April 04 Blue Sand, ..divided by time and The Vultures By Michelle Dee
|
|
Saturday night at the Adelphi and the crowd was buzzing.
The Vultures kicked the night off in style.
Their first song was for the Johnno's.
I don't know which Johnno's they were referring to but it didn't matter.
With a catchy Led Zep sounding riff they launched into their 20 song set.

Music Reviews -
Million Dead, The Freaks Union and Silence In The Streets At the Welly - 27th April 04 By Dom (plus Gallery)
|
|
Tonight's show was put on and promoted by the WellyClub. They really surpassed themselves promoting this show, I can't remember ever being at a show as full as
this in Hull.
There were well over 300 people attending and due to the size of the venue it was the perfect amount. I haven't been into the big room since it's been

Music Reviews - Mad Crowd Disease is a punk band. By Brian
|
|
The bottom line; Mad Crowd Disease is a punk band.
They don't claim to be anything else. Don't want to be anything else.
Off stage, Cal, Danny and Gaz are pleasant enough young men, on stage however, they seem to transform, Hyde-like, into aggressive noise merchants, peddling their own brand of punk.

Music Reviews- The Levellers, The Mutts & 59 Violets at Hull City Hall - 29th March 04 By Steve Rudd
|
|
The Levellers have to be applauded for consistently inviting some brilliant bands to support them on tour.
Back in December 2003, Brighton rockabilly outfit She Said did the honours brilliantly, and this time around - for their 14-date, Anti-Apathy UK Spring 2004 tour

Articles - A Secret Revealed - The Hutt Street Party! 18th April 2004 By Rich Mills
|
|
For many years I had heard of the myth of the Hutt Street Party.
Spoke in whispers across the Avenues enclave for years, many had heard of it, quite a few had been to one, but still many it seems are in the dark.
Basically it goes like this.. By word of mouth you get to hear about the party, which goes on in the house on Hutt Street. Hence the name!

My story begins in Arundel Street and wanders away to the shallow end of Holderness Road next door to the tram sheds and opposite the old Astoria Cinema, which was at that time the New Astoria Cinema.
Then to Hedon for a time, then back to Arundel a couple of years before the outbreak of the war.

Articles - Speed Dating By Ash Jamieson
|
|
I've seen it. I've peeked down the rabbit's hole.
A large group of people all looking for love in a pub on White Friar Gate. Great to watch, daunting to be a part of but on the whole, good fun all round.
Speed dating, for those that have never witnessed the phenomena, is exactly what it sounds like.
Dating at speed. A group of people split down
