Coming Up
23rd September - Reclaim the Night - Meeting at the 167 Centre, Spring Bank in Hull at 7pm

Reclaim the Night is usually a campaign/event about violence against women and children that have been happening around the world since the 1970's. Often these are women-only events, but they can also be open events with women-only spaces, providing a safe environment where women feel empowered by an atmosphere of female solidarity.
A Reclaim the Night march is about raising awareness of issues such as the right to be safe on the streets at night, and to highlight local safety concerns such as poor lighting, lack of CCTV cameras, high crime no-go areas, etc...
.
We plan to have a Reclaim the Night march in Hull that will be an open event. Although it is acknowledged that women are among those in most fear of crime on the streets at night, it is also important to remember that the elderly of both sexes have a fear of going out after dark, as do those of both sexes from ethnic communities and also LGBT communities. Parents too fear for the safety of their children and young people being out at night, the streets not being safe places for them to be.
