Pantomime - Bear Necessities Amateur Theatre Group, Hull
We are a friendly, welcoming amateur dramatic society based in the Centre of Hull.
For the past three Christmases we have successfully written and staged our own pantomimes: "A Christmas Carol: The Next Generation", "The Wizard That Woz" (based on the characters from "The Wizard of Oz") and "Banzai Aladdin".
This year we are putting on a fourth pantomime called "Cinders Does 'Ull" which is based around the traditional story of "Cinderella". We hope that our show will again be fun for all the family, with jokes that children of ALL ages will get!
If you would like to join in the fun of putting on a pantomime then do please get in touch with us (see our contacts page for e-mail and telephone details).
We would welcome new members of all ages and previous experience is not essential - just enthusiasm and a good sense of humour!

Coming Up - The DEEP turns into a nightclub
Yorkshire and Hull based company Ifgraduates (www.ifgraduates.com) will be holding their third and largest event yet. This marks the start of a new style of nightclubbing, which is not confined by the constraints of traditional clubs but instead makes use of the city's 'icon' buildings in ways previously not envisioned.

Ask Dorothy Advice Column, - My life is ruined.
Dear Dorothy,
writing to you is a last resort. I am so depressed I could kill myself.
Last year I spent all summer with my dad converting our garage into a practice room for our band. We had weeks of great weather, barbecues - me, my girlfriend and my buddies all shared this great close bond.
It was the happiest time of my life...or so I thought. Everything started to go wrong,

Aircraft and Airshows - The Yorkshire Airshow - Elvington 2003 By Tony
What a pleasure to be here for 2 days (24th - 25th August)! We were fully entertained with a diverse mix of aircraft.
Both days of the flying program opened with the superb Red Arrows. Unfortunately, on the first day they had to abort their display for safety reasons when three light aircraft strayed in to the six mile display zone. Without doubt there must be an investigation into this misdemeanour and culprits brought to book.

Music Reviews - still life and Sidewinder play the Welly Club Late Nite Line-up 13th November By Cilla.

A fabulous live band. Honestly, I feel so privileged to have seen these guys right now. They're tight. They're all connected by an invisible thread.
They kind of flow into each other - I guess its what you might call synergie. I've got to say they seem to have it all - even pyrotechnics!

Humber Mouth Reviews - Thur 13th Nov Pooh Bear Reading Workshop Central Library By Steve Hall
Aimed at parents and carers, the workshop I attended was one of a number being run by the Pooh Bear Reading Assistance Society in various Hull libraries throughout the Humber Mouth festival.
We did a lot of exercises - we looked at how to identify various types of children's books by their covers, at how some children's books are structured with repetitions and rhymes to help young readers predict the story and learn to ..

Humber Mouth Reviews - Wed 12th Nov Imetexture Red Gallery By Steve Hall
I struggle with sound art.
That's not a criticism, more an admission of a little personal blind spot. You see, what I need, I think, when I'm taking in a piece of work, is narrative - some kind of key of ideas which lets me unlock the work, lets me understand where it's going, what concerns and what issues it intends to deal with. By this I don't necessarily mean spoken words, or one of those little cards galleries stick next to their paintings -

Reviews, Books - "Cradle Song" by Robert Edric
By Nick Quantrill
Being a bit of sucker for crime fiction, and more pertinently, hard-boiled private investigator stories, I picked up this book purely on the basis it fulfilled the above criteria and is set in Hull.
Upon further investigation it turns out this is the first part of a trilogy set on the mean streets of Hull by Booker Prize nominated Robert Edric.
