Wednesday 29th September - The Victorian Tavern, Withernsea

The Nightingales are playing a free gig at The Victorian Tavern, Queen Street, Withernsea, on Wednesday 29th September 2004.

The gig will be preceded at 6pm by a free slide guitar demo by The Tank - the 'gales guitarist and a chance to chat with singer Robert Lloyd about the whole kit and caboodle of making your own record - from writing a song to getting it on a vinyl/CD and in the shops.

The gig starts at 8pm with support from Leeds-based innovative acoustic singer/songwriter Stuart Negus.

A bit more background....
In 1976 singer Robert Lloyd and guitarist Alan Apperley formed The Prefects, Birmingham's first punk group. The band were part of the Clash's White Riot Tour, toured with Buzzcocks, and played with the Sex Pistols and The Damned, before recording two John Peel sessions. They released their first single on Rough Trade Records before transforming into The Nightingales.

The Nightingales have regularly toured the UK and Europe both as headliners and as support to acts as diverse as Bo Diddley, Nico and The Fall.
The group have released many critically acclaimed singles, including 6 consecutive Singles of the Week in the music press, 6 albums, and many, many John Peel Sessions.

The Nightingales have just released their second of 4 singles this year entitled Workshy Wonderkind. Their back catalogue of albums will be available from October onwards. There will also be live and studio albums and a Prefects Collection CD.
