Northbridge Town are a club struggling at the wrong end of the football league. With the Sky Television cameras set to roll into town for a crucial FA Cup 3rd round game against Liverpool, George the Gaffer (Deka Walmsley) has plenty to deal with. And that's before a renowned record producer buys the club and initiates a distinctly modern programme of improvement! Will the certainties of the Gaffer's world hold or will it be all over at the final whistle?

'Gaffer' is a humorous yet touching account of football and its impact on the people touched by the beautiful game. Written by Chris Chibnall and directed by Gareth Machin, 'Gaffer' marks the first collaboration between the acclaimed York Theatre Royal and Southwark Playhouse.
