World Music Day at Queens Gardens
Saturday 19th June, 1 - 5.30 pm.

As part of Refugee Week 2004, Queens Gardens will host an extravaganza of music and
dance from across the globe. A showcase for both local and international artists,
it's an event not to be missed.
Quinteto Mambo Jambo will be there, with their infectious Cuban Brazilian dance music.
Also appearing are locally based African musicians Usizo, and Batanai Marimba, playing
music from Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Hataw, a traditional Kurdish dance group, will be appearing, and Hosham, from Afganistan.
To finish off the event is a widely-acclaimed band from the local Kurdish community, Gul Naz.
In addition to this, there will be a chance to take part in various workshops.
|
Hull Samba School
will be there for anyone interested in learning the art of hand drumming.
Also Middle Eastern Belly Dancing and Indian Bollywood style dancing will be on show.
Food of an Eastern kind will also be available, as well as various things to amuse the
little ones, including bouncy castles and art activities.
Come along one and all, and celebrate cultural diversity in the great city of 'ull!

Faith in Chaos (from Sheffield) and Le Shed (watch out for them, they are excellent).

Coming Up - Beverley Folk Festival 17th - 20th June
|

This year sees the 21st anniversary of the Beverley Folk Festival.
Amongst the attractions this year are the Levellers, playing an acoustic set especially for the occasion.
Also, the famous Waterson family, of which some members have previously been
nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.
