Coming Up Music
World Music Day at Queens Gardens
Saturday 19th June, 1 - 5.30 pm.
Free!
As part of Refugee Week 2004, Queens Gardens will host an extravaganza of music and dance from across the globe. A showcase for both local and international artists, it's an event not to be missed.

Quinteto Mambo Jambo will be there, with their infectious Cuban Brazilian dance music. Also appearing are locally based African musicians Usizo, and Batanai Marimba, playing music from Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Hataw, a traditional Kurdish dance group, will be appearing, and Hosham, from Afganistan.

To finish off the event is a widely-acclaimed band from the local Kurdish community, Gul Naz.

In addition to this, there will be a chance to take part in various workshops.
Hull Samba School will be there for anyone interested in learning the art of hand drumming. Also Middle Eastern Belly Dancing and Indian Bollywood style dancing will be on show.

Food of an Eastern kind will also be available, as well as various things to amuse the little ones, including bouncy castles and art activities.

Come along one and all, and celebrate cultural diversity in the great city of 'ull!

Opinions - Come On You Hull! By Laura Baldwin
So our latest award to sit alongside our much treasured worst city to live in the UK award' is that of the fattest city in the UK. Yep, not content with telling us that we live in the most crap city in the UK but apparently we're also a bunch of big lard arses as well. Charming. It seems that no-one has anything good to say these days about the historic city of Hull. Read more...

Opinions - Haircuts In The Crowd By Mr. Lucifer
If you are becoming bored of the vain, look at me I'm so cool culture that swamps the nationwide indie/rock scene and if you are sick of standing among people with the same haircuts, the same clothes, and the same transfixed miserable look on their faces, then, you are obviously craving exactly what I am Read more...
