1st to 5th February 05 - Hull Time Based Arts Presents gage05
|
gage05 is a Hull Time Based Arts Festival, reflecting
the ongoing programme of this live
and digital arts organisation.
At gage05 local, national and international artists and speakers will explore
themes of change, motion and migration.
The arts festival will run from 1st to 5th February and include live performance,
exhibitions, talks, workshops and screenings across the city of Hull.
|
|
|
gage05 will kick off on Monday evening (31st Jan) with a launch event.
Visitors throughout the week will be able to view unusual installed artworks including
a kinetic light sculpture, Shapesequencer, a musical instrument played
like a computer game (Hull Time Based Arts) and a drawing machine that uses a
suspended helium balloon and weather changes to create pictures on large rolls
of paper (this artwork will be touring to a different outside location each day).
|
|
A two day conference will take place on the Thursday and Friday (3rd and 4th Feb)
in partnership with the University of Lincoln (Hull School of Art and Design and
Hull School of Media Technologies), where invited speakers will debate the themes
of the festival in more depth, whilst Hull College's new Media and
Performing Arts Centre (Horncastle Building) will be the venue for evening
lectures (1st - 4th Feb 7-8pm), providing a broader historical context.
|
An interactive Mediahub will be set up in the Ferens Art Gallery's Live Art Space,
where visiting groups will be guided through practical digital media workshops and
try out interactive technologies.
Live music, performance and screenings will be taking place throughout the gage05
festival week, including evening events at Lamp Bar (mon-thurs) and daily
animations on Hulls Big Screen.
|
|
|
gage05 will be a key event for HTBA, covering the many disciplines of
time
based art which is in addition to the regular arts programme presented by the
organisation.
HTBA are actively working in partnership with other local arts organisations
including Hull Art Lab and Slack Video to ensure the gage05 events reach
as wide an audience as possible.
|
|
gage05 gives Hull Time Based Arts a platform to reflect on the work we have achieved in
the past year as well as highlight our new partnerships and plans for future activities.
Ray McFee, Programme Manager, Hull Time Based Arts.

Band Interviews - Sweet n Sour at the Welly Club 22/07/2004 Mad Action Interview By Andy Dykes

After the show I go backstage. Admittedly it's partly to use the toilet, but also to catch up

The lead singer and guitarist/backing-vocalist from Kasabian are immediately welcoming,
allowing me to use their toilet without fear of violence or harassment.
