FLATPACK STUDIOS proposal - Hull

A special Bulletin for Visual Artists

We would like to tell you about an exciting proposal to purpose build a new studio complex in Hull. Flatpack Studios envisages providing a focus for artistic production and networking in Hull, offering significantly better long and short term studio facilities than those currently available. It will also provide a range of related activities including international exchanges, professional development training, skill sharing opportunities, critical debate and studios for visiting artists. Flatpack also hopes to function as a social/networking focus for those based at the studios as well as for artists in Hull and the wider region.

We are currently in the process of assessing and proving the need for, and the potential public benefit of, such a development. As part of this process we are talking to as many artists from Hull, and those within easy daily travelling distance, as possible.

If you are an artist who may be interested in a studio or in some of the related activities we would be delighted to hear from you.

We are holding an informal 'drop in' session at the Take 5 Cafe, City Library, Hull on 10th September, from 2.30 -7pm for anyone who wants to find out more.

Articles - My September 11th 2001
By Mo
I'd spent the better part of my working life in Wall Street, having migrated over on the software developer slave trade back in the early 1990's, so Manhattan was in effect my second home, and I had often cause to visit clients in various floors of the nearby twin towers.

Ask Dorothy Advice Column, - My life is ruined.
Dear Dorothy, writing to you is a last resort. I am so depressed I could kill myself. Last year I spent all summer with my dad converting our garage into a practice room for our band. We had weeks of great weather, barbecues - me, my girlfriend and my buddies all shared this great close bond. It was the happiest time of my life...or so I thought. Everything started to go wrong, Read more...

Aircraft and Airshows - The Yorkshire Airshow - Elvington 2003 By Tony
What a pleasure to be here for 2 days (24th - 25th August)! We were fully entertained with a diverse mix of aircraft. Both days of the flying program opened with the superb Red Arrows. Unfortunately, on the first day they had to abort their display for safety reasons when three light aircraft strayed in to the six mile display zone. Without doubt there must be an investigation into this misdemeanour and culprits brought to book. Read more...

Part One - 1973: Super tug to defend fishing fleet
By John Boldock
It was a nice morning as we congregated outside the offices of United Towing Co in Nelson Street. This building was once the ticket office for the now defunct Humber ferry. For a few coppers you could steam across to the other side of the Humber to a land still inhabited by alien life forms more commonly known as "Grimsbyites".
