Wednesday 22nd September Les Baton Rouge at The Adelphi
|
Les Baton Rouge could be the best band you've never heard of, which is a shame because you're missing
out on a band who play this ripping garage punk sound mixed with new wave, a blast, fronted by the
marlene dietrich of punk rock - Suspiria Franklyn.
Les Baton Rouge have been recording new material with their new drummer Rainer Baumgartner and have
already embarked on their debut UK tour. Dates include:
|
|
|
Sep 18 Saxmundham White Hart
Sep 19 Moseley Jug Of Ale
Sep 21 South Shields Breeze
Sep 22 Hull Adelphi
Sep 23 Barrow Duke Hotel
Sep 24 Manchester Soundgarden
Sep 25 Nottingham Junktion 7
Sep 26 Leicester The Attik
Sep 28 London Buffalo Bar
|
|
Hailing from Lisbon, Portugal, and presently living in Berlin, Germany, Les Baton Rouge takes
its cue from classic UK punk, '80s New Wave and the DIY feminism of the best of the first
generation Riot Grrl bands.
LBR restores the danger and unpredictability of punk with a real message and real style. Style you can't fake.
|
As one writer astutely pointed out: Suspiria Franklyn's challenging combination of talent,
irresistible beauty and sensuality is exhilarating..
She's the Marlene Dietrich of Punk Rock.
Along with bassist Peter Shamble and drummer Rainer Baumgartner and the intriguing guitar
playing of James Jacket, Les Baton Rouge is a blast of screams, chaos and sensuality.
It's time for you to get in the loop.. the music press has embraced the sound of
Les Baton Rouge and the reviews of my body - the pistol have been great!
|
|
|
Les Baton Rouge, New York 2003, or England Rough Trade circa 1979? this band with Gal vocals is
creating quite a buzz. Good post punk in a true sense a la early Siouxsie or Slits or even Uxa.
This may be lumped in as being Riot, but this is cooler than that, very cool ... RL (Maximum Rock n' Roll)
|
|
Les Baton Rouge is fronted by Suspiria Franklyn who lulls you with the appearance
of politeness before twisting your head around.. Feminist inclinations, reflection, sexual innuendos,
and fire engine red lips - it's Suspiria's skill to strip bare the strategies of those who manipulate
for personal gain. Viriato
Front runners in the current wave of hip post-punk/No Waveish/neo Garage this album is raw and raucous yet smart
and sassy at the same time. rocktoberWeb:
