Frankie Machine - Francis Albert Machine - I Love You And I Don't Want You To Die (Artists Against Success)
Artists Against Success is proud to present a limited UK distribution of the first
US release by Francis Albert Machine. I Love You And I Don't Want You To Die, released
in America by Chocolate Hearts, is a collection all of the songs from the his three
AAS singles and numerous compilation tracks, and makes a cohesive complement to 2002's
acclaimed Francis Albert Machine & Friends album.
|
|
Hailing from Derby, Frankie, as he is known to his friends, is a versatile multi-instrumentalist
who has played with bands such as White Town, MJ Hibbett & the Validators, Airport Girl, and others.
In 1999 Frankie's debut vinyl-only single Why Are You established Frankie as a songwriter of
exceptional tenderness and honesty, with a knack for the wry lyrical turn of phrase as well as
effective and minimalist arrangements.
|
The single garnered great reviews and airplay on John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show.
Two more similarly well-received vinyl-only singles preceded the release of the full length CD,
Francis Albert Machine & Friends.
I Love You And I Don't Want You To Die collects all of the songs from these three AAS singles alongside tracks found on compilations from a variety of UK labels. Due to the limited availability-and relative obscurity-of the singles and compilation releases it is unlikely that many listeners, in the US and elsewhere, will have heard these recordings before.
|
|
|
For most, I Love You And I Don't Want You To Die will be an introduction to the Francis Albert Machine
sound. Both forthright and fragile, Frankie's songs deal with love and loss in and open,
honest way, the way you wish your friends would open up to you, the way you'd like to think you'd
tell your problems, but the way you never ever do.
These gentle and melodic songs should appeal to fans of Blueboy, Sarah Records (especially the quieter moments),
the Montgolfier Brothers, Kings of Convenience, and other introverted yet adventurous pop music.
|
|
The album can be purchased the Chocolate Hearts website, with a few copies available directly from
Frankie himself at his own site. Meanwhile Frankie's second album, Re-UnMelt My Heart
is almost completed and will be released later on this summer on both sides of the Atlantic.

Sweet n Sour at the Welly Club 19th August - 5678's, 59 Violets and The Morphines By Andy Dykes
|
|
I've heard tonight's openers The Morphines described as something like Ian Curtis singing
with The Clash.
If my musical arithmetic is correct, then The Morphines should sound something like Sham 69.
And they do. A bit.
While the garage rock revival grips the world like nuclear war, The Morphines hark back to an era
