Steve Regan - King Of Hull 14th February 2006 contd
|
prev page
|
|
Once again I am sickened by the way the BBC and the white feather press
has tried to monster our brave boys fighting for freedom in Iraq.
I refer to the video footage of British soldiers bashing up Iraqi youths who had
thrown stones at them.
While such action by troops against civilians is most definitely not to be
encouraged, we must be realistic.
We must remember that young soldiers in situations of armed conflict where
the locals are hostile and abusive will sometimes overreact.
It is good that these latest incidents are being investigated.
|
|
I hope any soldiers found to have stepped over the line of decency will be disciplined.
But no-one (as far as I can tell) died as a result of these incidents and no-one was seriously injured.
|
It was no worse than the average Saturday night punch-up in the city centre of Hull.
So I do hope the hand-wringing liberals who now infect every part of the
British State, including the military, will not encourage young hot-headed
soldiers to be dragged through the courts.
We have seen quite enough of human rights lawyers trying to undermine the
morale of our British heroes out in Iraq.
Our lads and lasses are doing a brilliant job.
And doing it far better and to a more civilised standard than most of the
military henchmen under the command of tyrannical Middle Eastern regimes could ever manage.

Just recently I went off to spend a couple of days in the great city of fearing and loathing
(no, not Leeds, silly!).I mean London, where people are still coming to terms with the evil terror strikes and everyone is still so very nervous and jumpy. I was in the capital for a couple of dull PR meetings connected with my day job, plus a few hook-ups with old drinking

I wonder how Humberside police chief David Westwood is frittering away his time as he waits and waits to learn his fate after being suspended from duty pending the result of an inquiry.
I rather hope that he might use this enforced rest period to take up a hobby which he once used to practise with some enthusiasm.
