The Guitar Man

Night after night who treats you right, baby it's the guitar man
Who's on the radio, you go listen to the guitar man
Then he comes to town and you see his face
And you think you might like to take his place
Somethin' keeps him driftin' miles and miles away
Searchin' for the songs to play
..(Sniff)
I've been watching a bit of TV recently and the quality seems to be increasing. The Sopranos is consistently excellent, BBC 2's recent drama The Long Firm was a revelation and the plastic surgery series, Nip/Tuck is so fabulous that I've been comparing it to the legendary Dallas in recent conversations.

Women of the Week
Abi Titmuss
She's a Cocaine snorting amateur movie star with a body made for sinning and a love for other women. So she may be as cheap as David Dickinson's chips but at the end of the day, ladies, if she moseyed up to your fella and asked him to put his hand up her skirt he would struggle to recall your name, and any hot-blooded boy who says otherwise is not only lying to you, he probably fancies your dad.
So as I was saying, Shindigg were technically very good indeed and I wish them all the luck and stardom in the world.

The only problem I have with them is that I sometimes struggle to hear the lyrics (though it's possible I need my ears syringing). cowfisH are always worth a look due to their silky smooth set and the slinky brunette who I'm sure used to go out with the lead singer but doesn't any longer (though it's possible I need my eyes syringing).
If you're into the whole music thing, I suggest you check out the new single by a band called Razorlight ..their previous effort, Golden Touch was very nice indeed and the follow-up is as juicy as the Asian store's watermelons on a sunny summer's day. You might also want to have a listen to the new track by Mousse T which is a beautiful slice of funk, cut from a particularly moist and extra creamy disco cake.

Anyway, enough for now: Please feel free to peruse the experimental poetry-cum-stream of rhyming consciousness below..it's dopey and disjointed and possibly unreadable but there is definitely method lurking somewhere in the madness.

I saw a friend I haven't seen in a while and he was telling me about how he was better off on dole than he is working in a restaurant kitchen and as I myself have had experience of living on the Nat King Cole .. I could empathize with the man.

We smoked Turkish ciggies, sipped Corona, and chatted about days gone by .. day's when then only responsibility we had .. was to be as irresponsible as it was humanly possible to be.

Ha-Ha .. Wow .. I've gone all Wonder Years .. Until Next Time Then .. Adios
Bohemian Travesty

I dabbled in exorcising
The effort was death defying
And I hate the devil crying
It's unbecoming

He said "What is Ostracizing?
I said "Aint that Ostrich farming?"
He said "That's just the advertising"
"F*cking numbing"
I live in abject squalor,
No dimes
I Ain't a dollar!
Got dirt round my cuffs and collar,
It's ridiculous.

But then if I had the Riches,
I'd spend it on coke and bitches,
So that's why I dare not risk it
I'm superstitious

I was thinking of dreams this morning
But the dream got kind of boring
As it does when you're not sniffing gas or glue.

The world gets quite spinney
Let's invade New Guinea
Rob Peter to pay Paul the Jew.

There is panic throughout most of the state and voluntary-aided schools in Hull because so many pupils are simply out of control. A new report and survey chronicles the terrible situation in classrooms across this city. I'm sorry to say it is a picture which does not hold out a great deal of Read more...

According to a recent survey, Britain's international prestige has taken something of a knock of late. Foreign nationals either living in or visiting dear old Blighty have been asked what they think of www.mcunitedkingdom.com and many - and not all that varied - have been Read more...

Firstly, I'd like to thank anyone who's pointed-and-clicked their way to my little information superhighway lay-by for a second time. It shows an entirely laudable spirit of forgiveness and optimism on your part; a spirit that you should be proud of and one that makes you very special indeed. To be honest, Read more...

MY visit to Hull last weekend was a blast. I came, I hugged, I drank and I lost my mobile phone in The Piper. The phone's since been returned to me. A reporter from the Hull Daily Mail had picked it up accidentally and taken it home, thinking it was hers. Friday evening began with me slurping Read more...

First things first: I ought to clarify what I'm doing here, taking up valuable space on your monitor - a space that I realise that so many of you consider an inviolate sanctuary for pictures of amusing deformity or make your own Semtex recipes. The fact is, it's all something of a mistake. Read more...

Columns - Steve Regan: the King of Hull's famous column
AS some of you may have noticed - I'm back, back, BACK! My column has returned for the people of Hull, who have apparently missed it sorely since it disappeared from the Hull Daily Mail nearly two years ago. Even the Leader of Hell City Council, Colin Davros Inglis, has been complaining there are now no proper columnists locally to keep him and his Read more...

Columns - King of Hull by Steve Regan 15 April 2004
OUR modern lives are plagued by pathological restlessness. We are never satisfied, always wanting to improve or change things or to move on to where we imagine the grass will be greener. This restlessness afflicts everyone to a degree. Do you know anyone who is perfectly contented, with his or her job, or lack of a job, emotional life, family circumstances or home? I recently met someone I hadn't seen for several years Read more...
