Wired Cyber Café and Network Gaming Centre, Cottingham Road, Hull
By Starpaw.
The world is turning digital, it's true.
WAP mobile phones, digital televisions and palmtops, the works.
Computers are here to stay and the net is playing an even larger role in our everyday lives.
Once the domain of geeks and computer fanatic's, cyber space is becoming the place to be. |
You're not anybody unless you have a yahoo.co.uk or a hotmail.com after your name.
So for those still fearing the old beige box or not quite ready to commit to their own computer, Wired is here to help you dip your toe in those cyber waters.
Literally out of the rubble and ruins of another failed glorified tat shop appears Wired, Hulls newest Cyber café.
This is how you imagine a cyber café should look; a grungy cyber punk atmosphere with the arty UV sheet sculptures yet at the same time stylish and classy, combining the best of coffee house culture and contemporary cyber café technology.
Black and chrome with flattened out car tyres below the front counter and along parts of the walls. |
Okay so it looks fantastic, but it's the computers we want to know about. Well, Wired has about 12 terminals so you'll usually be able to get in front of a monitor without much trouble.
Access to the floppy drive is available to save smaller documents and for a small charge you can have your files backed up onto a shiny CDR.
Word processing software and printers are available for those important documents or for any panicky students realising just how late that assignment is!

Prices are very reasonable, ranging from £2 for an hour, £3 for two hours and pretty much any amount of time in between for just a quick surf.
At the moment smaller food items such as chocolates bars, coffee and soft drinks are available, but plans are a foot to offer a wider, more varied menu in the very near future to offer customers salads, sandwiches and such.
So if you want to grab a few bites to eat and check your mail then kill two birds with one digital stone and drop into Wired to check out what all this Internet lark is all about.

By Nick Quantrill
Hull undoubtedly has many fine places to eat and enjoy different styles of food in pleasant surroundings.
When we cut away the often pretentious warbling about contrasting flavours, smells and colours

Coffee Shops Reviews
- Virtually Perfect
Cybercentre Café, 17 Paragon Street Hull
From the ashes of the defunct Sydney Scarborough building rises Hull's one and
only cyber cafe. It's decked out with huge dark blue comfy sofas, massive
ultraviolet waveform artwork adorning the walls and Avril Lavinge's Sk8er
Boi playing out through the sound system. Liberal amounts

Places to Visit - Our Samhain Visit to Avebury by Janie Spencer
Before we start on our journey, let me give you a bit of background on Avebury.
It is a beautiful stone circle, so big that you can in fact fit a village inside it, as you can see from this overhead map!
As well as being a tourist spot, it is both a home and a gathering

Places to Visit - Burton Constable Hall.

Burton Constable Hall has collected several ghosts and stories from its 450 year history, the most frequently seen ghost being that of Nurse Dowdall, a much loved nanny to the children of the household during the 19th century.

Places to Visit - A day by the beach - Bridlington Harbour.
This Sunday I was spoilt for choice - either to visit a Buddhist centre in "Kilham"
or attend a strawberries and cream party. Opted to go and find Zen so duly arrived
with my offspring (Katie and Oliver) at my friend's house (Cilla) punctually (for
a change) at 11.30.

Reviews, Films - Bring me Sunshine - Eternal sunshine of a spotless Mind By Lee Cassanell
I believe that it's much easier to make people laugh than it is to make them cry and if you look back over all the films you've seen in your life, I'll wager that the ones you shed tears over are your secret favourites.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of those movies and although I wasn't quite blubbing like

Reviews, Special Events - Simon Armitage at PAVE 22nd March 04 by Elsie Creek
It seemed that, until this event, I was the only person in existence not to have heard of Simon Armitage.
Nowadays, the writings of this ex-probation officer, from the small West Yorkshire town of Marsden, are apparently even studied at GCSE.
I'm sure that is the final proof of success for even the most

Juicy junior..real Juicy.. Joe Cabot (Reservoir Dogs)

Reviews, Films - Are you Passionate? By Lee Cassanell
I recently saw The Passion of Christ; the Mel Gibson film that portrays the last 12 hours of the life of Jesus of Nazareth who Christians believe was the Messiah of ancient prophecy.
The film was beautifully shot, highly stylised, Jim Caviezel born to play Old JC and it had the added bonus of Monica Bellucci
