The Yo-Yo indie night 2005 re-launch party - Saturday 29th January at The Welly Club Hull.
The Yo-Yo Indie night 2005 re-launch party will feature DJ Priya and
a special guest DJ who hasn't appeared at the night since August 2004!
The BBC will be filming at the party at The Welly Club, Hull.
The footage will be used for BBCi and the big TV screen in Hull city centre.
So make sure you put your best jumpers on kids! And arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Also the new Yo-Yo Web site will be launched at the night.
Live on stage will be The Landau's who open the 2005 season of Livelab
gigs at The Welly Club Hull.
After Pete Doherty (Libertines / Babyshambles singer) named Yo-Yo as
his fave gig of 2004 in The NME, bands have been queuing up to play at Yo-Yo's
popular Livelab night in 2005.
Already confirmed to play are The Black Dogs from Liverpool, Local acts The Applewhites,
Turismo, The Dirty Dreamers and The Morphines and a band described as The best band
since The Libertines by NME, Thee Unstrung, who have chosen Yo-Yo to
host their end of tour party in March with local support coming from Turismo.
Also waiting in the wings to confirm dates are hotshots The Others, The Paddingtons
and The Rakes.
The first band to play Yo-Yo in 2005 will be The Landau's.
Described recently by Time Out magazine as Raw and Honest music, they have recently
released their second CD single What Ya Cryin For which shows quite a step forward in
production, song writing abilities and out and out confidence from their
first release, Sweet But True.
It is very easy to forget this band are still only teenagers on the evidence of their recordings.
Yo-Yo organiser Andrew Coe said Things are looking really good for 2005.
There are so many bands wanting to play, we can pick and choose the cream of bands both
locally and nationally. Pete Doherty was well up for coming back to Yo-Yo,
but his management wanted a 2,000 plus capacity gig with us.
But I don't think it would work in a larger venue the way it did at Welly!
That was one of those gig of a lifetime moments!
Andrew went on to say: We are putting The Landau's on again because the last
time they played in May 2004 it was brilliant.
But ten minutes after they finished there was a power cut on Beverley road,
and it kind of spoilt the party! So this time we can all party till 3am!
