With support from The Cazals and Ladyfuzz. The Rakes are a spindly-framed quartet from East London with a set of songs that have drawn rave comparisons to the likes of PIL, Wire and Joy Division. Adored by NME and MTV2, quotes such as ... By the end of 2005 The Rakes will be the most important British band... should give you some idea how good this gig in going to be! The Rakes are unashamedly political and their live experience is by turns, chaotic, funny, charming, silly, serious, beautiful, moving, aggressive, effeminate, sublime and ridiculous. Their first two singles Strasbourg and Retreat have dominated the NME top ten as well as entering the UK chart.

So arrive early and prepare to be blown away!! DJ Priya follows The Rakes till 3am. Doors open at 10pm - 3am. Bands from 10.15 pm. £7 Pay on the door only. This is the only pay on the door event on the current Rakes tour which has pretty much sold out, so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Coming Up - Fund Raising Bike Ride From Southport To Hornsea - 30th May 05 By Andrew Steele
	Along with 2 friends, I am taking part in a fund-raising bikeride on 30th May. We will be cycling from Southport to Hornsea, just over 215 miles, and plan to complete this in 4 days. Not exactly climbing Everest, but still no mean feat for a wheezing weakling like me!
