NightClub Listings
Thursday 23rd September - Thee Box at Asylum, Hull University

Thee Box is the night that gives up and coming student bands and local bands the chance to play in a big venue that they normally would not, with occasional guest bands of a higher profile.

The events will now take place on a Thursday with the headliners going on stage at 11pm, so there is still plenty of time to go out afterwards. Drinks will be at regular Asylum student union prices.
There are 2 important things to bear in mind with Thee Box nights: Firstly, the combination of style of bands on any given night will be varied, this is to try and broaden the appeal of the event, give bands a chance to play in front of people they normally would not and so on.
This eclectic mix will also be reflected in the records played before and between the bands by jodof and Sarah (The New, Redbrick etc, for previous playlists go to www.thenew.co.uk ).

Secondly, the running order is decided by democracy. All the bands playing* have tickets to sell prior to the event and whoever sells the most will headline and so on down.
Therefore you need to arrive early to ensure you see the band you want to. We would therefore encourage you to buy tickets in advance from the band you want to see most.

Contact details can be found through the bands websites, addresses of which are below and on the flyers.

This week's bands are:tonights bands are:
Amber Souls - formerly known as The Psychedelic Breakfast and are a guest band from Newcastle. Amber Souls sound is a hotch potch of musical styles - from dub bass to blues riffs, funk through to soul. www.ambersouls.co.uk

Fado Rock - have played at the university a few times in the last couple of years.
They've recently been forced to take a six month hiatus due to an unfortunate drumming injury and have honed a sleek rock sound - think Funeral For a Friend meets And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead. www.fadorock.tk
The Morphines - have blasted onto the Hull music scene in the last three months like no band have before and are exciting a lot of people very much. The Morphines singer Ben is more likely to be rolling around on the floor covered in body graffiti than standing up.

They play clipped garagey type rock and there is an impending sense of doom in their music but within a few months this lot are going to be flying very high and definitely need catching now...
Superscape - elders of the Hull indie scene having existed in one guise or another since '96. After they last played the University the general consensus was that their epic, Verve like indie was one of (if not the, in many peoples opinion) the highlights of the day. www.superscapemusic.co.uk

Tickets are £4 from the bands in advance or on the door. The event is open to everyone.
