The third in a succession of compilations featuring the finest original bands and artists from Hull was launched at the popular Sesh night, now well into its third year, at the Linnet & Lark on Princes Ave, West Hull. Interest in the original music scene has grown rapidly within the last twelve months and The Sesh itself has seen over 20,000 people walk through its doors on Tuesday nights over the last 18 months. The first compilation of local artists was well received back in 2004 with over 800 copies given away at The Sesh nights. This third volume is the big one; the one that should put Hull on the map. Local, and now nationally respected, urchins, The Paddingtons, have kindly allowed the use of an exclusive Studio Demo of Rat Race a track which will no doubt cement their status further and will probably be included on their next album.

It really is a strong line up and one that will have music journalists across the land searching for their AA map to find out how to come and visit our musically forgotten city. DJ Mak says If we can fund ethnic festivals at £30,000 a pop (and there is a place for them) then why can't WE as a city, all get behind our artistic sons and daughters? There should be money available for us to encourage and nurture our bands and artists so they can continue to develop and seal their place amongst the country's hottest names.
