George Galloway is the latest 'celebrity' politician to let their ego cloud their
judgement, and make their faces known across T.V. land;
"Mr Galloway is a C-list politician with an A-list ego," mocked Jim Fitzpatrick,
the Minister for London.
There seemed to be no other reason for his public humiliation.
Galloway claimed, "Politicians should use every opportunity to communicate with people".
|
|
But when the cameras are on 24/7 he has nowhere to concoct his lies away from the
eagle eyes of the viewing public. He ended up being viewed in rather a dark light,
summed up by Oscar-nominated actress Ms Mirren as "a very disturbing person,
I think he is a very disturbing politician" But aren't all politicians disturbing?
I believe not, well at least some politician's daughters aren't.
|
Margaret Thatcher's daughter, the bumbling toff, Carol, presented herself eloquently,
and represented upper class, older women perfectly. Maybe it's a light at the end of
our society's social declining tunnel that a journalist, and daughter of
Baroness Thatcher can win, what is essentially a personality competition.
Bearing in mind the other contestants were actual "celebrities', soap stars from
Emmerdale and Eastenders, singers and presenters.
|
|
Some may also suggest that
Thatcher The Musical, actually came about, off the back of her daughter's success.
The musical is not however as light hearted, as it may seem.
The Thatcher shown is a woman of steel, with emotional and political anxieties,
dressed in her traditional twin sets. Iconic key quotes such as "helping society
with Marxism is like curing leukaemia with leeches" are softened by the musical numbers,
The Cabinet Shuffle and the Tory Blues. Perhaps politics can be entertaining as
well an informative.

|
Politics affects our culture, our lifestyle, and our future. The power within politics has a firm hold of everything and everyone all over the world. From deciding if we can still light up in pubs, to Orwell's fictitious 1984 actually being a reality, with the introduction of I.D. cards, voting is not to be avoided.
With politics hitting us hard from every angle in our culture, information has never been more readily available. So why shouldn't we all think of ourselves as societies politicians? Why shouldn't we view our ideas and expectations just as highly as someone with those little letters M.P. after their name?

Actual politicians lives leave a lot to be desired, how many sex/fraud/liable scandals have we read during the last year, surely they should not be running the country. Although their lives do make unbelievably interesting fish and chip literature.
