Lynched By A Ghost
By Graham Lee

As part of my regular work I am involved in ghost hunts with a group called UK Haunted where we invite members of the public to join our all-night vigils in haunted locations. The latest of these events was held in a derelict manor house, the location of which must remain a secret as the event will be shown on television soon.
Suffice to say that the things I experienced that night had me running for the hills. It was one of the most hair-raising situations I have ever been in.
Throughout the day I had been exploring the building before the guests arrived for filming.

I had identified a number of areas with definite spirit activity and I had also identified a number of animal spirits throughout the grounds, one of which was a large white horse.
However, the most un-nerving thing I saw was the spirit of a grubby little man who appeared right in front of me. He was rubbing his hands together and informed me that he would be seen in many forms throughout the day. My guides told me that he had been involved in a pretty gruesome murder somewhere in the grounds. Armed with this information I resumed my tour of the property.

As the darkness drew closer and night time fell, the guests began to arrive and we would soon be roaming the grounds looking for spooks!
I had teamed up with another medium named Carol Chambers, who had picked up on the same grubby little man. We took an opportunity to have a poke around in the ruins of the building and soon enough we attracted the attention of the same spirit man.

He was following us around the place. Yet there was more to it than that, he was actually running circles around us.
As we were wildly shining torches and taking pictures in the pitch dark, the spirit man was taking pleasure in the fact that he was giving us a run for our money. It was at this point that he stopped, looked at me and drew his thumb across his throat in a menacing gesture. I began to feel afraid.

Then an unsettling series of events began to unfold. Firstly, I was beginning to notice a large number of references to nooses and lynching. Abandoned electrical cords had been tied into nooses, people began to experience tightness in the throat area and I kept picking up the spirits of many, many people who had met their end either through hanging or asphyxiation.
The worst was yet to come, prior to the investigation I had predicted that someone would experience either cuts or markings on their necks, but I had not imagined that it would be me.

During a séance I began to choke and cough, I assumed it was simply the dust in the old house and so I didn't give it another thought.
Then I looked across at one of the crew members, he seemed to be having similar trouble, but worse still, he seemed to be going in to a trance. It seemed that we were getting responses to our questions through the crew man. We were in contact with a male spirit, and I knew instantly that it was the grubby little man who had been following us around.

Just then, one of the guests, a self proclaimed sceptic, began to shake violently, he did not respond to his name or any other stimulus, it was time to bring him around. Three of us struggled with the convulsing man and we eventually got him out of the room and brought him out of the trance.
He seemed to be fine and sat down to rest. Just then someone shouted Oh my God Graham, look at your neck! Someone took a photograph of my neck at that point and indeed there were red rope burn type markings there. A burning sensation began to overcome me but there was no time to recover, our sceptical guest was once more in a writhing, struggling state. We had to get other mediums from other parts of the building to come and help out.

I was drained and my neck was on fire, it was then that I began to lose my grip on reality. I could feel myself going under and I had to get one of the mediums to help me remove a spirit individual which, at that point, was clinging to my spine.
After this had happened I had to get off the property and spend the next hour on the main road at four in the morning trying to keep my sanity.

Thanks to two of the guests, who kept me warm, gave me soup and generally kept my mind actively in this realm I managed to get over it, but I could not get away from that place fast enough and I don't think I will ever be going back there again!
