Kev left today. Two new admissions. No comment. Just on countdown.
Stress from the various services. No longer under the auspices of Hull and Plymouth won't touch me because I'm not from the area. It's so frustrating. I've come this far and I'm still coming up against brick walls. But ha! 20 hours to go and I'm out! I will not allow myself to become irate. I am chilled to my core (yeah, righto).
|
|
I realise, talking to the new admissions, how far I've come in just two weeks. Gone is the over-exaggerated buoyancy and drivel which falls from the mouth of an alcohol dependent.
The cravings come and go but are manageable. For me they are in direct correlation with anxiety. Positive mental attitude and stress management are two crucial keys to overcome addiction.

I had a brilliant conversation tonight with one of our carers. She has had cancer and suffers from arthritis. It puts things into perspective. Sometimes I think angels are put in our path to guide us.
Tomorrow approaches.

Part Seven - Diaries From Detox continued
|
|
My friend arrived at 9 and I was out by 9.01. Freedom! Well, at least for a few hours. I am physically completely detoxified and now the hard work begins. I feel indescribable terror at the thought of going to rehab tonight but I will do it. For me, the freedom of choice has gone.
|
|
I (or rather a friend) packed all my things into two massive holdalls (it was like watching performance art) and I was given a gorgeous roast lamb lunch.
13.57 approaches. I need the toilet.
I am now on the train. I bade a tearful farewell to the person who has housed and fed me for the last few months and basically kept me alive for which I shall be eternally grateful.
I shall say adieu now and report back in a few months. Not writing for the net won't kill me. Not focussing on my treatment probably will.
Today's the day...
The End.

Articles - Truth Is Seldom Stranger Than Fiction

Hi. My name is Todd Everspawn, or rather it could be, because I'm here today to talk about positive lying. I'm sure very few people reading this article, or indeed those taking no interest in it whatsoever, have got through their life to date without telling a lie.

Articles - "We do it our way" By Starpaw

The reason I love Hull, yes love, the reason why I can remember facts like it was the second most bombed city during the war, or citing famous people who lived or live here is because it's so innately, well, Hull. Plus if we get a brand spanking new bus station, where are all the 20p scrounging townies going to go? Poor buggers ;)

Articles - Burglary in Hull
|
|
I really didn't want to write about this. But I've decided that maybe I should. Life in Hull is about bad things too. Last week we were burgled. One small window left open and one tempting bicycle on view.

Music Reviews - Riley Perform at the Welly Club
|

I thought it would be hard to report on this. As I watched this band I thought, 'Its going to be impossible to be objective - impossible to stop my personal feelings coming through'. Then I realised that actually that's the whole point - music is all about personal feelings.
