Day 11 - The Last Weekend - Big Brother is Watching You
|
|
Glen left this afternoon. He could have waited until Monday as planned but the constant surveillance and lack of space and privacy wears you down. Yes, it's like the Big Brother household but you don't get 70 grand when you leave or a flood of job offers.

|
The night before he left, we were laughing a lot. The following morning I was asked if we'd been using any illicit substances because a) we'd been out that afternoon (I never knew Lloyds TSB and the Post Office were such scoring dens) and b) we'd been happy. They have succeeded in their mission to detoxify us yet when we display signs of emotional well-being this is called into question and must be the result of substance misuse.

Morale between Kevin and I is low. It's only 2 days now until I go to Plymouth and my sleep pattern has severely deteriorated. Last night I was woken up three times by staff because I was crying out in my sleep.
Remember at school when you had to pick teams and all the popular people were picked first and the geeks last? Well, I dreampt I was in rehab and I was the last one to be picked (I was never a geek at school!).

I have dark circles around my eyes and look like a heroin addict. I'm tired, nervous and dreading Tuesday. All sorts of terrible thoughts and fears are running through my mind.
Will it be Aldus Huxley meets George Orwell? Will they try and break me and I'll become an automaton? I'm scared.
'I awoke to find no peace of mind'

Part Six - Diaries From Detox continued

Slept very badly again. Increasingly nervous so half killed myself in the gym.
Had a long talk with my key worker Marie in the afternoon and felt positive once more but by six o'clock the switch had flicked and I was in tears yet again. I am sick of the emotional rollercoaster.

Also have just discovered I have slightly deranged red blood cells. Their job is to carry oxygen to the organs of the body. Does this mean mine are mentally subnormal, going in the wrong direction and bumping into each other? "'ere mate, have you seen the kidney?" - "Nah, I'm looking for the pancreas and can't bleedin' find it."

Sports Events Windfest 2003 at Hunstanton
|
Another last minute rush and the roads were heaving, but it was well worth the effort as Windfest turned out The Place To Be last weekend.
Lots of sponsored riders, designers and general kite celebs made the weekend pretty memorable but which kiting weekends aren't?!

Holidays - Prague by Nicholas Boldock
|

So off we went. On arrival at Ruzyne airport, my main worry was that our taxi driver would not be there. For some reason this was the thing I was most concerned about. My fears were unfounded.

Articles - Truth Is Seldom Stranger Than Fiction
by Trevor Edge
|
|
Hi. My name is Todd Everspawn, or rather it could be, because I'm here today to talk about positive lying. I'm sure very few people reading this article, or indeed those taking no interest in it whatsoever, have got through their life to date without telling a lie.

Articles - "We do it our way" By Starpaw

The reason I love Hull, yes love, the reason why I can remember facts like it was the second most bombed city during the war, or citing famous people who lived or live here is because it's so innately, well, Hull. Plus if we get a brand spanking new bus station, where are all the 20p scrounging townies going to go? Poor buggers ;)

Articles - HULL #1 - Hull gets flashed!
|
|
By Rich Mills
Instructions had gone out and it was all in the lap of the god's. The Hull Flash Crowd came out from behind their computer screens and faced the world and each other for the first time. The location was Victoria Square, the time 1:00pm, the act was the Hokey-Cokey.

Articles - This Is East 'Ull
By Nicholas Boldock
|
|
Way back in the October of 1975, I popped my head out in Hedon Road Maternity Hospital, wailed a bit, and said hello to East Hull, which was to be my home for the next 18 years, give or take.
